Description of OM5 Patch Cable
OM5 Lime Green 100Gb LC SC Duplex Fiber Optics Patch Cable manufactured by ANC International Co., Limited is optimized for multi-wavelengths transmission systems operating in the range of 850-950nm. OM5 Patch Cable normally has lime green jacket for easy identification. Duplex Multimode 50/125 Fiber Patch Cable is a wideband multimode fiber (WBMMF) solution that supports at least four wavelengths in the 850-950 nm range. These OM5 multimode patchcords are used particularly in 10, 40 and 100 Gb/s applications, where the transmission distances and higher bandwidth requirements have dictated a need for a higher performance but cost-effective multimode system. It can transmit at 850nm wavelength up to 400m on the rate of 40 Gb/s or up to 150m on the rate of 100 Gb/s. All patch cord assemblies are fully tested prior to delivery and supplied with test results.
Short Wavelength Divison Multiplexing (SWDM) is a wavelength divison multiplexing (WDM) technology that utilizes four wavelengths across the 850 to 950nm range. The new 40G-SWDM4 and 100G-SWDM4 Ethernet standards operate over a pair of multimode fibers, while utilizing four wavelengths; 850nm, 880nm, 910nm and 940 nm to achieve 40G or 100G transmission rates. Earlier standards required an MPO connector and 8 or 10 fibers to accomplish the same transmission rates. SWDM will operate over OM3, OM4 or OM5 fiber, OM5 is all about extending the distance.
